An Amazing 5-Day Summer Alaska Adventure Itinerary
So you are finally doing it. Alaska is massive. Like, seriously huge. You could fit Texas in here twice and still have room left over. Getting from one amazing spot to another? It takes time. A lot of it.
So that’s why
We are sharing this itinerary for all the travelers who are confused about planning their trip to Alaska and want to experience all the photoworthy spots. This itinerary is a mix of wildlife viewing, amazing walks, scenic mountain landscapes, glaciers, kayaking, hiking, and mountains.
You’ll have a mix of adventure days alongside some relaxation, and trust me, this will be your trip of a lifetime.
If you are coming solo or in a group or maybe as a couple, the views will make you speechless, and the photos will fill your gallery very quickly, so a quick tip: make sure you have extra storage.
Day 1: Arrive in Anchorage and visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
So you are finally here. Welcome to Alaska.
Today is an enjoy-and-relax day, and today the first thing we do is get our 4WD car at the airport and take it for a short, 1-hour ride to our next stop, the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. As the name says, you can see and enjoy Alaska's wildlife. You’ll see moose, bears, bison, and other Alaskan animals up close in big, natural habitats.
And then we drive back to Anchorage for an amazing lunch at Moose's Tooth Pub & Pizzeria, and trust me when I say it, they have the most amazing pizza in this world.
After that we go and check in to Airbnb in Anchorage and relax.
Today was an easy day because the adventure is about to pick up from here.
Day 2: Seward & Kenai Fjords Glacier Cruise
Today is an amazing day because today we are going to board a glacier and wildlife cruise, where we are going to see the glaciers of Alaska and all the wildlife animals of Alaska.
After breakfast, we need to take a drive to Seward Harbour.
This will be the most beautiful drive of your life because these roads have the most amazing, beautiful roads in the United States. After arriving at Seward Harbor by 12:00 p.m., board a Kenai Fjords glacier cruise.
You’ll spot all sorts of wildlife from this cruise, from puffins to sea otters to sea lions and many more.
You’ll see whales too!
All sorts of whales make their way here, and depending on the time of year, you may spot many of them.
For a lot of travelers, day 2 becomes a really memorable day because you see ocean, glaciers, and wildlife at the same time.
Day 3: Kayaking at Eklutna Lake
Okay, so after exploring Glacier Cruise and Seward Coast, today we will go to Eklutna Lake, which is surrounded by mountains. This lake has very calm water, beautiful scenic views, and a relaxing environment here.
This day will not have a lot of hiking and adventure because this will be a relaxing day; you can enjoy the lake, you can enjoy the kayaking here, and get ready for the next day because the next day will be the most adventurous day of your trip.
Day 4: Guided Matanuska Glacier Hike
Today will be the most adventurous day of the whole trip because we are going for the Matanuska Glacier hike, a 29-mile-long glacier. This is the most famous hike in Alaska because this is the most accessible glacier in Alaska.
You can see this glacier from the road as well. You will find a lot of people who are there for only a day trip or a weekend because of its accessibility.
Matanuska allows us to directly walk on ice, so with our experienced guide, we will explore glacier walls and deep blue crevasses.
Walking on a glacier is often described as a once-in-a-lifetime experience and is a highlight of any Alaska adventure trip.
After the day trip we will come back to the Anchorage Airbnb and relax so we can get ready for the next day.
Day 5: Alaska Tram and Departure.
This will be the final day of our trip. We will take a ride to the Alaska Aerial Tram, which has the most beautiful panoramic view of mountain glaciers and valleys from the top. From the top, you can see the amazing view of mountains, enjoy fresh air, and enjoy the most relaxing, photogenic scenery of mountains and everything else.
After the tram ride, we will return to the anchorage for departure.
