
Yosemite Firefall
Day 1 – Arrival and Scenic Highlights
Arrive in Yosemite by early afternoon
Stop at Tunnel View for panoramic winter views
Short walk to Bridalveil Fall (0.5 miles round trip)
Check into your accommodation (inside the park or nearby in El Portal)
Sunset at Valley View for iconic river and granite wall reflections
Dinner and rest
Day 2 – Firefall Viewing Day
Morning activities:
Walk to Lower Yosemite Fall
Optional hike to Mirror Lake (flat, winter-accessible trail)
Stop at Swinging Bridge Meadow for peaceful views
Afternoon:
Secure parking near El Capitan picnic area before 2:00 p.m.
Walk to designated Firefall viewing areas (based on park recommendations)
Set up early with tripod and warm layers
Watch and photograph the Firefall at sunset when Horsetail Fall glows orange (typically around 5:30–6:00 p.m.)
Day 3 – Light Exploration and Departure
Morning walk through Cook’s Meadow Loop for final Yosemite Valley views
Optional stop at Yosemite Falls in soft morning light
Depart for home or continue your journey
Firefall Tips:
Firefall happens only if water is flowing and skies are clear at sunset
Arrive early to secure a good spot—weekends are very crowded
Dress warmly and bring snacks, water, and a headlamp
A telephoto lens or tripod is highly recommended for photography
